About Us

Kamdhenu Gau Dhaam is a loving abode for old, sick & injured stray cows. Kamdhenu Gau Dhaam is named after the Sacred Cow, Kamdhenu, who is the source of abundant prosperity. Kamdhenu Gau Dhaam Trust was founded in the year 2016 under the Grace and Guidance of Maitreya Dadashreeji, a Global Humanitarian, along with the help of numerous volunteers.

The life of a cow is full of pain with most of them being born on dairy farms. Male calves are usually killed after birth for their skin which is processed into leather, while the females are raised in worse conditions, deprived of their mother’s Love and affection. As they grow a couple of years older they are artificially inseminated by humans. Immediately after delivery they are separated from their calves, never to know the fate of male calves. Their milk is sold for monetary gains. Throughout their torturing tenure at dairy farms, they are used as milk-producing machines and fed with steroids under inhumane conditions. Once their milk production stops and they grow too old to bear calves, they are abandoned and left on their own. None of these dairy farm bred cows live long enough to die a natural death. They either die by ingesting plastic, poisonous substances or meet with a fatal accident.

We endeavour to physically heal bovine animals that have fallen victim to animal cruelty and to provide a loving home to them. It is a purely social, voluntary and contributory initiative.

Adopt A Cow

It is mostly through a rescue call that we are informed about an injured cow. Immediately our rescue team makes the effort to bring the cow to our Gau Dhaam where the doctor inspects and prescribes the necessary treatment. The admission form is filled and the cow shifted to a special care unit. The second way is when the Municipal Corporation asks us to lift a cow from a particular place within the city and bring it to our shelter. Here the cow may or may not be injured but it is not allowed to mingle with other Gau Matas unless the Vet clears it. This is the process of rehabilitation which may take a couple of days to weeks depending upon the physical condition of the cow.
“Cow is one of the most sacred animals that I really connect to. Every part of a cow is sacred. She represents maximum divine qualities. She is the mother. Cows live on the principle of only 'giving'. Any torture or killing of cows is a heinous act! To take care and serve the cows is doing a profound selfless service, a divine act.”
